Configuring for Polylang

Configuring Complianz for Polylang consists of 2 things;

  1. Adding policies for a new language
  2. Make sure your cookie banner is translated.

Adding policies for a new language

Because shortcodes create our policies, the current languages from Complianz are also available through the shortcode. We now have 19 languages in Complianz, as of May 2020. You can find the languages for a premium under features, for free you will find them here.

All you need to do is to duplicate the page for the new language.

Gutenberg

Create a page for your new language, for example:

Add your title, and add a new block – search for Complianz.

Choose your document from the dropdown and save!

Shortcode

Create a page for your new language, for example:

Add your title and choose a shortcode from our shortcode list, which can be found here.

Add the shortcode under text for the classic editor, or a shortcode element as shown below from an Elementor example.

Good to know: Please clear your cache before trying if the page has translated. Translation files should be downloaded from WordPess.org for your newly configured language. If not, please go to dashboard -> updates to trigger the download.

Make sure your cookie banner is translated.

For this, you will need string translation from Polylang. Make sure you saved your cookie banner at least once, this is how the strings are getting registered for Polylang.

Go to string translation and filter the group for ‘complianz’. Look for your cookie banner message and button texts. Translate the strings, and you’re done.

Good to know: the URL on the cookie banner is redirected automatically based on the language.
